ED 100 Foundations of American Public Education Prerequisite: Placement into ENG 099 or higher 3 lectures per week: 3 hrs credit This course is an overview of American education as both a profession and a public enterprise. The social, historical, and philosophical foundations are used to give perspective to an examination of current issues, policies and trends in the field of education, including cultural diversity and the standards movement. The organization and structure, financing, and curriculum issues in education are also discussed. A clinical component of 15 hours is required.
