MA 121 Medical Laboratory Procedures Prerequiste: Acceptance into the Medical Assisting Certificate program (recommended) 1 lecture hour, 4 lab hours: 3 credit hours This course introduces students to laboratory and clinical procedures commonly performed in a physician’s office or medical clinic. Emphasis is placed on specimen identification, collection, handling, and transportation, along with the performance of routine diagnostic testing. Students will gain handson experience in venipuncture, vital sign assessment, and selected invasive procedures, as well as practice conducting common laboratory tests. Proper documentation of all clinical procedures is reinforced to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to healthcare standards.
