MA 111 Clinical Assisting and Pharmacology


Prerequiste: Acceptance into the Medical Assisting Certificate program (recommended)
2 lecture hours, 4 lab hours: 4 credit hours
This course emphasizes the critical importance of asepsis and sterile technique in today’s health care environment. Students study basic bacteriology and its role in infection and disease control, along with an introduction to therapeutic drugs, including their classifications, uses, and effects on the body. Instruction covers the principles of safe medication administration and provides hands-on experience in preparing medications for various methods of delivery. In addition, students gain practical skills in preparing for and assisting with minor office surgical procedures, reinforcing both clinical knowledge and professional competency.
