This transfer program is designed for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in various areas of history. The history curriculum at Prairie State College provides students with the background in history and general education courses necessary for advanced work at a university. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Associate in Arts degree prior to transfer.

I. General Education Core (37-38)
Area A: Communication (9 credits)
Area B: Humanities and Fine Arts (9 credits)
Select three courses from the list for Area B with at least one course from humanities and at least one from fine arts.*
Area C: Mathematics (3 credits)
Select one math course from the list for Area C .
Area D: Physical and Life Sciences (7-8 credits)
Select one life science course and one physical science course from the list for Area D . One course must have a lab component.
Area E: Social and Behavioral Sciences (9 credits)
Select three courses in at least two different disciplines from the list for Area E .*

Competency through the fourth semester in college or four years in high school of a single foreign language is required for the B.A. degree in History in some universities, and for all majors in the College of Arts and Sciences at many universities.
Required A.A. Degree Program Total: 62 credits
*Students are advised to take non-History courses to fulfill the Humanities and Social and Behavior Sciences general education requirements. More specific course choices are required when pursuing History Education. Consult with your advisor.
