Pre-Law, A.A.

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Suggested Areas of Concentration/Major Fields, Transfer Degrees

This transfer program is designed to provide students with the background necessary for advanced work at a university. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and a satisfactory score on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) are required for admission to most law schools. Most law schools have no specific requirements with regard to the courses chosen in prelegal study. Common majors among pre-law students include business, history, political science, psychology, sociology, and English. These subject areas help develop skills in close reading, critical thinking, and logical argument. Proficiency in these skills is considered essential for a career in law. Students are strongly encouraged to complete an Associate in Arts degree prior to transfer.
