ELEC 120 DC and AC Motors and Generators Prerequisite:ELEC 102 with a C or better 2 hrs lectures; 2 hrs lab; 3 hrs credit This course is a study of DC and AC generators and motors. Topics covered include motor construction, basic principles, speed-voltage characteristics and regulation of the generator. Also covered are the principles, speed-torque characteristics, type of field excitation, and starting procedures of motors. Single phase and poly-phase generators, motors and switching equipment are covered. Motor theory wiring, troubleshooting, and safety will be emphasized.
