IT 253 Linux System Administration Prerequisite: IT 240 with a grade of C or better. 2 lectures, 2 lab hrs per week: 3 hrs credit This course provides an in-depth study of and hands-on experience with the administrative functions of the Linux operating system. The configuration of graphical user interfaces is covered. This course provides theoretical and practical concepts including system maintenance and security, shell environment customization, user and group management, task scheduling and automation, print and e-mail service configuration, and networking configuration and maintenance. Successful completion prepares students for the CompTIA Linux+ and LPIC-1 certification exams.
