EMS 244 Medical Prerequisite: Successful completion of EMS 241, EMS 242, and EMS 243 with a grade of “C” or better. Current/active National or State License as an EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate.
5 lecture hours, 2 lab hours: 6 credit hours This 6-credit hour course introduces the student to medical emergencies that are most often encountered by Paramedics in the prehospital setting. Information will center on the pathophysiology of the disease process and correlated to likely symptoms. Students will become skilled at disease recognition and advanced treatment interventions. Cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning is used during this course. Emergency Department and Fast Track/ED2 clinical rotations continue along with Cardiac related calls. Students will also continue with their provisional field calls.
